Street Art Series No.729

“Children on Bicycle” is one of six original street art murals painted by Lithuanian Artist, Ernest Zacharevic in Georgetown, on Penang Island in Malaysia. Zacharevic received global attention for his Penang murals when the BBC called him Malaysia’s version of Europe’s iconic artist, Banksy in 2012. ‘Children on a Bicycle’ became his most famous iconic work in Penang. Hruby became a big fan of Zacharevic’s work in Georgetown. Here, Hruby honors his work with this shot taken at night of this particular work. While this mural shows what weathering eventually does to an outdoor mural across fifteen years; to everyone’s delight, Zacharevic returned to Penang and restored the image back to its original form. This new version can be seen in Hruby’s work entitled ‘Bicycling in Georgetown’ which can also be found in the Penang Collection.
