Sculptures in China Series 11
Hruby took this shot in Xi’an, China. It is the statue of the great Chinese Poet, Li Bai (701-762 AD) from the Tang Dynasty as he toasts the moon with his wine. Hruby, an internationally acclaimed poet and lover of wine himself made an immediate connection to Li Bai. This spectacular canvas wall art, more like a painting, shows Li Bai against a backdrop of blue laced with other assorted colors. His death remains a mystery but according to legend, he drowned while on a boat when he reached out over the edge to embrace a moon beam he saw reflecting upon the water.
