Penang Street Scenes No.223
Right in the hub of Georgetown can be found the Kapitan Keling Mosque built in the 19th century by Indian Muslim traders in Penang, Malaysia. Hruby, having photographed many prominent Christian churches and cathedrals in Europe, was struck by the architectural beauty of this Islamic place of worship. Georgetown remains unique in that many different religions and cultures have coexisted and flourished here together since the 18th century.
