Kek Lok Si Temple Series No. 075
Hruby attempts to capture the surrealism of the tranquility, peacefulness, intellectualism, and spirituality from within the temple while looking out into the real world that is merely across the street. A real world that is far from tranquil and peaceful; often brutal, non-forgiving, naïve, and a realm of many religions and cults that at times have brought death and violence. The photograph is taken from within the very sacred Buddhist Temple of Kek Lok Si, built in 1891. It is considered one of the largest and finest Buddhist temple complexes in Southeast Asia.
