Of Castles & Time

One can visualize from “Of Castles and Time,” soldiers still manning the towers and walls while others ride by on horseback across the field during the middle-ages. Castle (Chateau) Leymonie-du-Maupa is the only surviving castle of four in the Mussidan region of France. In 1590, the castle served as a headquarters in the area for the Catholics as they battled the Protestants in nearby Sorzac. Forces under the King of France, Henry IV prevailed and the castle was sacked and the chapel burned. Hruby spent numerous years at this castle as his summer residence including sporadic stays through the year. Now in need of much restoration, he tried to capture the essence of the site today through images.
