Bicycling in Georgetown
“Children on Bicycle” is one of six original street art murals painted by Lithuanian Artist, Ernest Zacharevic in Georgetown, on Penang Island in Malaysia. Zacharevic received global attention for his Penang murals when the BBC called him Malaysia’s version of Europe’s iconic artist, Banksy in 2012. ‘Children on a Bicycle’ became his most famous iconic work in Penang. Hruby became a big fan of Zacharevic’s work in Georgetown. Hruby honors his work with this shot taken at night of this particular artwork. In this rare shot, he brings Zacharevic’s artwork to life at night, as the children seem to be bicycling down the street as an actual bicyclist rides by in the opposite direction. The affect created by Hruby of the bicyclist in this photograph is his artistic way of showing that through years and decades, while people will pass on and no longer be on their bicycles anymore, the two children will remain solid and immortal. We are the ones that are but flickers of time.
