Bacchus
“I entered the room and my breath was immediately taken away by the power of the sculpture that lay before me.” Hruby described the moment he laid eyes on the sculpture of a Satyr and a priestess or follower of the Roman God of Wine, Revelry, and Fertility – Bacchus. The sculpture was created by Sculptor James Pradier in 1834. Photograph taken at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux.
