Ancient School on Calligraphy Street at Night

The entrance to this ancient academy is captured at night. A lone, waiting student is surrounded by statues of lions and Confucius himself while a powerful array of colors abound everywhere in this remarkable photograph. Few universities or academies in the world have as long a timeline as Guanzhong Academy, established in 1609 in Xi’an, China. It became famous for its teaching of calligraphy, fine arts, and cultivation of Confucian students often sent to assist neighboring governments.
